iPhone Battery: Woes silenced [UPDATED]

battery
Asalamualaikum,
well we all have been there, we sleep with full battery in our iPhone’s and when we wake up there is nothing left as if we didn’t charge it in the first place…
get it?
This particular problem has been with me for over five years now, i was one of the first owners of the original iPhone so i can safely say i know my iPhone pretty well.. What causes the excessive battery drainage in our iPhone’s even when we’re NOT using it AKA sleeping..
Some time ago i set out to try to investigate this problem now that i had to iPhone’s in home, different generations would give me pretty standard results..
First, i started by noting how much a full battery would last in normal conditions to set the benchmark which on my iPhone 3Gs came up about 4 hours of 3G without WiFi.
Next i put the iPhone on full charge and then before sleeping, left it undisturbed. In the morning, i found 30~35% of battery was gone?
what? Why? what did i use this much battery in my sleep?
Next i tried to disable different data settings and see what that has a result on battery consumption.
What i found was if i only disabled 3G on the iPhone, battery consumption would range at about 10~12%.
A clear and that too a massive improvement over the previous setting. I realized why would i want to leave 3G on even though i had an unlimited connection, its not about data consumption but battery life.
Could i improve the battery consumption even more?
For that i tried stopping mobile data entirely and the results speak for themselves, only 0.5~2% of the battery was consumed during the entire night?
that is what? 66~80% battery saving just by checking one field?
Now that the night usage was solved, i went further and decide to see how much battery i would be saving during the day?
the results were equally good, i stood to lose minimal amount of battery throughout the day even when i am calling someone or using the internet..
You’ll say eh! its too much trouble to disable mobile data every night you sleep, that you would forget and all that but for anyone who has ever complained about iPhone having a terrible battery surely must be leaving WiFi and 3G on while he/she is sleeping and their iPhone is minute by minute checking for something new…
Another thing people say is like they wake up in the middle of the night to check something and it would be difficult to re enable data every time but i personally have tested it early in the morning a few days ago and i did not have problem with re enabling the connection, so tonight after you finish up with your dots, just disable all mobile data and tomorrow you’ll thank me, just try it once…
Plus another advantage of this would be because of the architecture of iPhone’s lithium ion battery which is said to take only 400 full charging cycles before needing to be replaced, this would definitely extend your iPhone’s battery life because you’d have to charge it less often.

UPDATE: i was told by someone that why don’t we just go to airplane mode before going to sleep and we’ll save even more battery. Valid point, you can always do that but what better a phone during an emergency in airplane mode than switched off altogether?
yes, do think about that..
